Cover Girl Lash Blast Length Mascara

I am loving this mascara!  I am always on the quest for the perfect mascara and I think I have found it!

I have short lashes and not many of them so I am always looking for a great lengthening mascara.  I read so many good things about Cover Girl's Lash Blast line, so I decided to try the lengthening formula.

I love how CG packaged this mascara; the mascara comes packaged with the wand "outside" of the tube (tube is hygienically sealed).  I like that CG did this so that you can actually "see" the design of the wand/brush.  I love this brush!  I guess you could call it more of a "comb" rather than a brush because it does not have "bristles".  This comb/wand coats every little hair and with a few strokes, I have lashes again!

I love this formula; it's not thick or clumpy at all and I even apply to my lower lashes and don't end up with "raccoon eyes" at the end of the day!  I apply 2-coats for every day wear however after 3-coats, my lashes stand out even more yet look very natural.  This formula is not too wet nor too dry; it's just right.  I also wear contacts and have not experienced any irritation with this mascara.

This mascara is definitely one of my faves and I am going to try the CG Lash Blast Fusion, which I read great reviews about!

Honestly, I have to say that I have tried many high-end brands of mascara and CG makes some of the best mascara's out there!

Clinique Superbalanced Powder Makeup

I read so many positive reviews on the Clinique Superbalanced Powder Makeup that I decided to give it a try.  I never part with my Laura Mercier mineral powder makeup however, I always enjoy investigating to see if there is something better out there.  What can I say?  Women need choices, LOL.

I like the idea that this powder is freshly grated with each application, so there is no waste and no mess.

I went to the Clinique counter and after a few swatches, it looked like "Natural 4" was my shade.  It was very close to my Laura Mercier mineral powder in "Classic Beige".  I actually thought I would be like a 5 or 6, but the 5 natural was too peachy for my medium skintone and the 6 natural was WAY too dark.  The sales associate agreed that the natural 4 would be my shade because it has a "yellow" base, which would work good with my skintone and covering up any redness in my skin.  I always tend to go towards a yellow base because a lot of beige's have too much pink in them.

Well, my first application was "so-so".  I used the recommended amount to cover the entire face and the powder just goes on too light for my tastes.  Keep in mind that this makeup gives light to medium coverage, and it's a "mineral-enriched" formula.  I tried adding another layer, but I really did not see much improvement.  It did not give me the same flawless coverage as my Laura Mercier mineral makeup.  I used my kabuki brush to apply the powder and another thing I did not care for was how dusty it applies; more powder was flying away than was going on my face, it seemed.  Needless to say, my excitement quickly diminished with this powder.  Back it went to the Macy's Clinique counter.

It was another interesting experiment for me with mineral powders however, I will stay with my Laura Mercier mineral powder, which I love so much.  I was a fool to think I could find anything better.

These are my own views from my own experience and the best suggestion I have is to go to the Clinique counter and check it out for yourself.  A lot of woman rave about this powder and they love it however, it just did not work for "me".  I would say this powder would be great to use as a finishing powder over a liquid foundation.

On a final note; I just wanted to add that the sales associate that assisted me did not seem to know very much about the Superbalanced makeup; she matched the liquid foundation to use with the powder and the color was wrong.  Clinique describes on the box "which" shade compliments the liquid formula, just so you know.  My SA was quite pushy (but polite), and was trying to sell me more products (I know, it's their job), but I had to put my foot down, LOL :-)

Boots No 7 Moisture Drench Lipstick

I was so impressed with Boots No 7 "Stay Perfect" lipstick, that I decided to try their "Moisture Drench" lipstick as well, and so glad I did because this formula is fantastic! It goes on so smooth and has really nice color pigment. I would say that it's pretty long-wearing for a "moisture" formula. This lipstick feels like a "luxury" and "high-end" lipstick you would find in a department store. I love that it is "fragrance free", like the other Boots No 7 formulas. The color I chose was "Paradise" (medium-tone pink with subtle gold), and it looks so pretty with my MAC lip liner in "Soar"! It was the very last one left, so I was so happy! I also love the packaging; very nice quality. I am so happy that Target brought the Boots No 7 brand to the States and I hope they keep it here! I'm going to buy the "Golden Rose" next!

L'Oreal Sublime Mousse Haircolor #90 Pure Light Blonde

Every post that I have made thus far on my blog have been about products that I happen to like and enjoy using.  With that being said, this will be my first negative post on my blog.

I previously tried another brand of Mousse/Foam hair color, John Frieda (see earlier review), and I was pleased with the results, but not thrilled.  So, this time I thought I would try another newcomer in mousse hair color; L'Oreal Sublime Mousse.

PRO'S:  I really like the ease of these new mousse/foam hair colors.  They are easy to apply; you just shampoo it in and leave it in for the specified time, and rinse and condition, that's it!  I like how the L'Oreal Sublime Mousse left my hair shiny with lots of highlights and lowlights.

Some people have complained that it has a strong ammonia odor, and I did not detect any strong odor at all.  Actually, it had a nice, light and pleasant scent.

Also, some reviewers said that it "stained" their hairline and scalp.  I did not have any issues whatsoever with this formula staining my scalp.

The kit comes with everything you need and the instructions are very easy to follow.  I have long hair (past my shoulders), and there was more than enough mousse to saturate my entire head.  It's very foamy at first, but then the foam starts to liquify after a few minutes, but it was not "drippy" at all.

CON'S:  The color I chose was "LIGHT" Blonde, and the end result was not what I was aiming for.  Keep in mind that my hair color was already a light blonde, but what I ended up with was "darker" than what I started with.  I would say the "Pure Light Blonde" is more of a medium blonde.  I am disappointed that I spent $10 on a hair color that I am not satisfied with.  The color on the box shows a girl with very "light" pale blonde hair, and even the before and after photo samples on the back of the box did not match what my results were.  My roots are still dark, all over my head!  WTH? Also, it does not provide good "gray" coverage, like L'Oreal claims.

I'm not sure what is going on with L'Oreal, but they are supposedly #1 in hair color, and it seems they missed the mark on the Sublime Mousse hair color.  Perhaps the developer is not strong enough?  I don't know.  This product is made by an outside company, so that may be the issue?  I have read other negative reviews on this hair color, but I decided to give it a try, anyways.  Now, I will have to wait a couple of weeks to "re-color" my hair, and I hope that I will get satisfactory results, next time.  I highly doubt that the color will improve after a few washes.

I usually purchase my hair color at Sally's Beauty Supply for around $5.00 USD, and I never had an issue with the results.  Prior to the mousse, I was using L'Oreal Professional.  I thought I would prefer using the mousse hair color, instead of coloring the traditional way, with the liquid formula.  I guess I will go back to the traditional method to color my hair.  It's really a shame, because I really could like this mousse hair color; it did not stain or irritate my scalp, like traditional hair colors do.

In conclusion; will I be purchasing ANY other brand of mousse hair color?  no, no NO!!!!!  Not unless L'Oreal perfects their formula.  Or, any other brand, for that matter.

Sorry, L'Oreal.......but, you let me and my hair down this time.

**** UPDATE **** 6/30/2011:

I did some research online and educated myself on a few things regarding "at-home" hair coloring.

I found out that "boxed" hair color that is sold in drugstores/supermarkets will typically only "lift" the color 2-levels #20 developer... (did not know this);  I usually use a #30 developer, so that is why I did not get the blonde results that I was seeking.

I also learned that you should use a "30" developer when coloring your hair "blonde" (blonde shades are classified as level 9 or 10); the higher the number, the more blonde/lighter the color results.  Any color that is a level 9 or 10; you should be using a developer #30.

Now, I know not to purchase any "boxed" hair color that is sold in stores.  I will go back to using professional color (mixing color w/developer) to get the results I need.

L'Oreal H.I.P. Shine Struck Liquid Lipcolor "Euphoric 660"

I really like these lip glosses; they are very moisturizing and although some shades seem more sheer than others, they still give off good color.  I think the creams are more opaque than the frosts are.  I also like that the frosted shades are not "metallic"; they give more of a "pearly" finish.

Some people are put-off by the caramel-vanilla-cotton candy scent, but it does not bother me.  It reminds me of candied caramel apples at an amusement park; Yummy! LOL

The applicator is very nice also; L'Oreal and Lancome has done a very good job in that department.

The color I chose, "Euphoric" is a light pink frost and although it looks a bit intense in the tube, it looks more of a soft baby pink on your lips; very pretty!  Looks awesome with a pink lip liner!  Very pretty for the summer time:-)

I hope L'Oreal has plans to extend their H.I.P. cosmetic line; I think it's quite good.

L'Oreal Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick

This is a nice lipstick; it goes on smooth and creamy;  has a light feel to it, and sort of matte, but not "too" matte.

It was so hard to choose a shade.  At first, I was going to get a berry shade, but walked back over to the display and switched my selection to "Perpetual Peach", and I love it!!  I have been trying to find a good "peach" color, with warm under tones, and this one is it!  It's not a bright coral shade, it's just the right shade of soft nude-peach.

You may want to use a lip balm before applying this lip color, because as with any long-wearing lipstick, it may tend to make your lips feel dry.

Chanel Glossimer

A few of my current faves are "Brilliance", "Glow", "Sarong", "Nougat", and "Scintillance Twinkle #11".

Color description is as follows:

Brilliance (light pearly-pink/lavender)
Glow (light peachy-bronze pearl)
Sarong (pinky-brown pearl)
Nougat (warm beige-pink pearl)
Scintillance Twinkle (pink-opal pearl)

I love all of these shades.  I love the texture of these lip glosses; they are gel-based and although sheer, they have good pigmentation and last quite long, for a gloss.  They are beautiful to wear alone, with a lip liner, or over a complimentary lipstick.  You can never go wrong with Chanel Glossimer.

It's quite a large tube and they do last a long time.  Chanel Glossimer's are, in my opinion, the best lip glosses out there and are well-worth the price.  Also, they are fragrance-free; another thing I love about Chanel.

Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick

I am a bit late in trying the Chanel Rouge Coco lipstick, but I have to say it was well worth the wait!  The shade I purchased is "Perle"; a very lovely light, natural pink with champagne shimmer; it's gorgeous!

I've always been a huge fan of Chanel's lippies and glossimers, and this formula has not let me down either.  The application is very smooth and creamy and feels good on the lips.  I love the scent of Chanel's lippies; it's very sophisticated and grown-up-like; nothing sweet or candy-like....just a nice, light scent that is not offensive.

I love the case too; very sophisticated and has a nice "click" sound when you close it.  Very chic, oh so very Chanel!!

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick

One of my fave lippies, EVER is Guerlain's Kiss Kiss Lipsticks!  Two that I currently own are "Rose Strass" and "Forever Beige".  They are both beautiful colors.  Rose Strass is a gorgeous medium-tone mauve/rose with shimmer.  Forever Beige is a beautiful, warm-beige-nude color, with shimmery golden undertones.

Guerlain's Kiss Kiss formulas are fabulous!  They apply like velvet, feel good on your lips; have good staying power and smell delicious!  I would describe the scent as cotton candy and Pez (for those of you who are old enough to remember Pez candy).  It's a beautiful aroma, like their meteorites powder.  If you are familiar with Guerlain, then you recognize their famous "violet" scent.  If you can recall, Guerlain once made the fragrance, which I still have in my possession.  That's another blog, lol.

The gold lipstick case is a work of art, and I feel so special every time I apply this lipstick.  Guerlain is a french luxury brand (a bit pricey, but worth it) and I think that every Woman out there who loves lipsticks, should own at least one or two!  Aside from their lipsticks, Guerlain knows how to make beautiful cosmetics, that women want to wear.  They know how to make a woman feel special.

Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipstick will always be one of my favorites.

Lancome Color Design Lipstick

Lancome's Color Design Lipsticks (Sensational Effects Lipcolor) comes in five different formula's; cream, sheen, metallic, shimmer and matte.  The formula and color I own is the sheen in "Vintage Rose".

The texture is sheer finish, and very moisturizing; feels like a lip balm.  Really nice for the summer months.  Even after a couple of hours, my lips still felt protected and moisturized and had a hint of color.

The shade I chose, "Vintage Rose" is a very soft, medium-mauve tone and is great for every day wear.

The lipstick case is very pretty and elegant looking.  Also, I love that this lipstick is fragrance-free too!

Overall, I am enjoying the Lancome Color Design Lipstick, and I think I will try their other formula's as well.

Boots No7 Stay Perfect Lipstick

I love this lipstick made by Boots No7.  It's a long-wearing lipstick that comes in a array of beautiful colors.  I always noticed this brand at my local Target store, but did not know very much about this brand from the U.K.  After reading reviews on-line, I just had to try it.

The shades I purchased are "Under the Sun" and "Chinchilla".  I love them both.  The shade, "Under the Sun" is a rich, bronze - almost terracotta, with golden undertones.  It's a beautiful shade to wear in the summer.  The shade, "Chinchilla" is a beautiful, warm-nude that is an easy-to-wear every day color!

I was pleasantly surprised when I first applied this lip color.  It is super-pigmented and you only have to apply a "thin" layer to get good coverage.  This lipstick can be a tad drying, so you may want to apply a lip balm before application.  Even with applying a lip balm beforehand, the color still lasts for hours!  After 6 hours, my lips still looked great.  You will want to touch-up after you drink or have a meal, but the color will stay on.

I would compare this formula to L'Oreal's "Endless" lipstick (may be discontinued), minus the fragrance.

I love how this lipstick applies; it's difficult to explain....when you put it on, it's so light and feels like velvet, and it stays in place (you could go without a lip liner).  I also love that this lipstick is "fragrance-free"; big plus!

In conclusion, I love Boots No7 Stay Perfect lipstick, and it does what it says it does...stays PERFECT!

John Frieda Precision Permanent Foam Colour

I've been hearing about this new "foam" permanent hair color for a few months and decided to pick one up at my local ULTA store.  I chose the shade "Sheer Blonde - Extra Light Beige Blonde" (10B).  I had a $3.00 off coupon, so that was even more added incentive to try it.  I was using another brand in the same shade of color, so I was hoping that I would get similar results.  I took a chance on it, and was pleasantly surprised.

The package contains instructions, gloves, color, developer, after color conditioner and a bottle with foam dispenser, so there is nothing additional you need to purchase.  The instructions were easy to follow.  If you follow the steps, you will get the same results as shown on the instructions.

This foam hair color is so easy to use!  I just love it.  It is not messy or drippy at all and has a pleasant fragrance (no offensive odors).  You just shampoo and massage the foam until your hair is thoroughly saturated.  My hair is long (past my shoulders), and there was more than enough foam to saturate all of my hair.  The liquid in the bottle looks deceiving, but when you dispense the foam, it really makes a LOT of foam!

I also love how It rinses out so easily, and comes with a conditioner that leaves your hair soft and shiny and healthy.  Another thing that I love about this hair color is that it does not leave any residue around your hairline or on your skin and easily wipes away with a damp cloth/towel.

I have been using the John Frieda line for a couple of years now, and I am impressed with this new product as well.

I paid $12.99, retail at my local ULTA store, and had a coupon for $3.00 off, so not a bad deal at all.  It's much more affordable than visiting a salon and you still get professional-looking results!

The results are healthy-looking, natural and shiny hair.  This is my first application, so I will have to wait and see how long the color lasts.  I will definitely be using this hair color again the next time I color.  I highly recommend this product.
